Description of the new feature / enhancement

An option to keep the mouse pointer highlighted at all times with color options. Create a highlighted ring around the mouse cursor in addition to the functionality of highlighting the mouse pointer on click. I'd also like to capture the mouse highlight when recording with OBS.

Scenario when this would be used?

When doing online Zoom meetings or other Webinars, I need the mouse pointer to remain highlighted so viewers can follow along where I'm pointing. There is an app for this in the Microsoft Store, but I'd prefer to use PowerToys. This functionality is also built into the presenter mode of Zoom, but it's clunky and difficult to use. It's not customizable and it doesn't record the highlight on OBS.

Supporting information

This is the one I use now.

PowerToys Mouse Highlighter is better than Mouse pointer highlight in two ways:

  • the border of the circle is antialiased
  • the area surrounding the circle is dark

For these reasons this feature request is very much needed: currently it is quite annoying having to keep moving the mouse to not loose the highlighting, and having to shake it (or to press left Ctrl twice) every now and then to get the circle back.

@crutkas can you explain why you think #15512 is a duplicate of this one?

As far as I understand these are two completely different issues:

  • this issue: "keep the mouse pointer highlighted at all times"
  • the other issue: "make the spotlight area transparent instead of white"

sorry, copied wrong item, this would be tracked via #14137 then.

I think it a pivot of find my mouse. We could do some neat stuff here.

How? That issue does not mention keeping the mouse pointer highlighted at all times.

Shouldn't we reopen this ticket instead?
