[Feature request] Image compression

Description of the new feature / enhancement

It can be great if we can have an "Image Compression" component.

Scenario when this would be used?

It could be used anytime we want to compress an image.

I imagined the following scenarios :

select an image(s), right-click and click on "compress the image(s)".

right-click a folder and click on "compress the images in the folder".

It should either replace the images with the compressed version, or add a "compressed" suffix. For example :

• "compress the images (replace)"
• "compress the images (copy)"
• ... (other right click elements)

Supporting information

I came across this vscode extension by microsoft that already has the compression (for one or more images in a folder). I can get the repo (maybe it's proprietary ?).

This issue reads to me as: enable image resizer to act on all of the files in a folder (and maybe sub-folder). Does that sound right? /needinfo

So the image resizer compresses the images, right ? If so, it's not really clear in the app that it does. And what if I don't want to resize, but only compress ?
