Taskbar clipping Chrome and Edge windows that are positioned with FancyZones at bottom of screen #5918
Comments

If you quit PowerToys and move one of the windows it becomes obvious that it extends behind the menu taskbar. You can of course easily drag the browsers windows up, without resizing it and position the bottom edge against the taskbar. The result is that the browser is now exactly the height of the taskbar too tall. If you use the "dock to the edge of the screen" functionality built into WIndows 10, it works correctly and the browser does not extend beyond the top edge of the taskbar.. |
What I meant was: if you move a window to the same position as the zone, so that it doesn't extend below the taskbar. Then you visit the website, does the browser window extend below the taskbar? Can you post a screenshot of the zone, just to make sure the zone is not already extending below the taskbar? |
If you move a window down to the same position as the zone, so it doesn't extend below the taskbar, then visit the website the browser window would not extend below the taskbar. That said, after quitting and restarting PowerToys, the behavior has stopped and browser windows are now correctly docking, stopping at the top edge of the taskbar. I didn't make any other system changes, nor did I touch FancyZones. One possible contributor could have been switching the resolution on one display to a lower resolution (1920x1080 - for a WebEx call) and then switching it back to native (4k). Perhaps this confused FancyZones? |

✔️ Expected result
Browser shouldn't be covered by the taskbar.
❌ Actual result
Browser is covered by the taskbar making it difficult to use elements aligned to the bottom of the browser viewport.
📷 Screenshots
Here are examples of controls in both Slack and Netflix in Chrome getting clipped when docked to the bottom of the screen with FancyZones.
