ℹ Computer information

  • PowerToys version: 0.21.1
  • PowerToy Utility: FancyZones
  • Running PowerToys as Admin: No
  • Windows build number: [run "winver"] 18363.1082; 19041.548

📝 Provide detailed reproduction steps (if any)

  1. Enable TaskView, and make several Virtual Desktops (--);
    Move Windows' TaskBar to vertical left (Right-click on Taskbar; clear "Lock taskbar"; drag taskbar to the left edge);
  2. Define two equal, non-overlapping areas, occupying the whole bottom half of the screen, next to each other;
  3. Switch to eg second virtual desktop (--); open eg File Explorer, snap it into position - snaps OK;
  4. Move to first virttial desktop; open eg File Explorer. When snapping, the two snap areas are moved all the way to tle left, ignoring vertical taskbar, and leaving empty area on the right edge.

✔️ Expected result

First virtual desktop' snapping should be no different than others;

❌ Actual result

First virtual desktop' snap areas are shifted under the taskbar.

📷 Screenshots

Are there any useful screenshots? WinKey+Shift+S and then just paste them directly into the form
Not too easy to provide screenshots with this feature, might try with a virtual machine setup.

I am using PowerToys version 0.23.0 and get the same problem.
Screenshot provided where you can see the non-covered areas to the right on the left screen and to the right in the right screen. The middle screen is the main screen and has the taskbar on the left side.
FancyZones cannot handle vertical taskbar

This seems to be a duplicate of #2252 .

I tried to replicate the problem using 0.29.3 without success. Is this still happening for you?

I have upgraded to 0.29.0, and it was there (screenshots attached). I cant replicate it right now with 0.29.3 (just saw it released), will report later on progress.

The screenshots show zones definition, and attempt to snap a Notepad window.

I can replicate a bug in the FZ editor that doesn't preview the zones correctly, but then zoning works.

I cant replicate it right now with 0.29.3

If you can't replicate it with 0.29.3 I'll close the issue, but feel free to reopen it in case it will happen again. Thanks.

v0.29.3
I don't know how to reopen this, but after today's Windows Update, and restart, the issue is still here - first virtual desktop, with vertical task bar, zones are shifted to the left - exactly as on the screenshots above.

Reopened as #9087

In 0.35 there will be a fix for several taskbar issues, we didn't manage to reproduce this particular one, so we are not 100% sure it will be fixed, but after releasing 0.35 we will close the issue as fixed and then reopen it if it will reproduce.
Thanks.

This has been resolved in the 0.35 release. https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/latest
