[Run] Won't work in user account even when I restart as administrator #8418

  • PowerToys version: 0.27.0
  • PowerToy Utility: PowerToy Run
  • Running PowerToys as Admin: Yes
  • Windows build number: 18363.1198

📝 Provide detailed reproduction steps (if any)

  1. Install PowerToys in a standard user account (not administrator)
  2. Open PowerToys and click on 'Restart as administrator'

✔️ Expected result

It should work perfectly fine.

❌ Actual result

PowerToys Run won't work.

No, it doesn't. It's a standard user account.

I also have the same issue. Running PT 0.27.1

There are two scenarios for this problem:

  1. PowerLauncher.exe is not started when PowerToys.exe starts, this is now tracked in [Run] PowerLauncher.exe is NOT running when PowerToys starts #9017
  2. PowerLauncher.exe is running but not responding to the shortcut key, this is now tracked in [Run] PowerLauncher.exe is running, but the shortcut key doesn't work #9018

Closing this as duplicate, please refer to #9017 or #9018 depending on your case.
