Issue

Customer is trying to connect to Azure ML Compute instance but intermittently failing to download VS Code Server bits

Triage

  • Met with customer and detected 'wget' for the resource was timing out. Customer would check with their network team to allow the required endpoints in their firewall.
  • After fixing the firewall but now customer is experiencing failures with SSL
  • CI team confirmed is not an issue with the target
  • Customer reports the issue is present in multiple CIs
  • Triage SSL: “openssl s_client -connect az764295.vo.msecnd.net:443 -debug" shows "write:errno=104", seem like connection is being drop by server or intermediary https://superuser.com/questions/297889/does-openssl-errno-104-mean-that-sslv2-is-disabled
  • "openssl version" version supports TLS 1.2
  • Asked the customer to trace their network to identify where the connection was dropped
