Feature Request: A simple way to change the font size

Explain the Problem

I have more than a thousand feeds, and I spend a lot of time reading them every day. I feel the text size is too small for my eyes. Though, I can understand some people might not agree. My suggestion is to add some discrete button to grow and shrink the content font size, like those you can often find on newspaper websites.
I do not think the browser zoom is a good solution as it also grows the menu, and the images.

Steps to Reproduce

Explain what you did to encounter the issue

1. Get a big screen.
2. Have a lot of feeds, take a lot of time to read them.
3. Read more feeds, until you eyes hurt.

Agreed! I'm coming to GitHub and coding late in my career, and the tiny font when writing to text files in repos is hard on old eyes.

+1 since the font used for entries seems to be narrower with NC 14, i can remember it was bolder with NC 13

FTR the font have changed form NC 14 to 15, it's bolder now so easier to read, bud the font-size is now to 14px which is very small https://github.com/nextcloud/news/blob/master/css/content.css#L585

I too find current font size too small for comfortable reading. I reckon the font size switcher requires some design work, so couldn't the default size just be changed to 16px? Text lines are still more than 100 characters long at this size.

In case it helps, I have a very minimal custom css that removes hardcoded font sizes so that NC uses the browser's font sizes that the user configured: https://github.com/bendem/ansible-nextcloud-rock64/blob/master/custom.css

I've tried to fix all the places where that causes problems but I'm not a big UI user so I probably missed a bunch, feel free to take it and modify as you see fit.

It's a shame this feature is not available for a reader app, mainly since the issue is open in 2017.

Well the issue is that we have no active developers for this app. The backend has seen some attention in the last year, mainly the move to feed-io as a maintained parsing library.
But that's already it.

The frontend very likely could use a complete rewrite in vue.js to align with the other apps.
But that takes somone who is willing to sit down and do it.

I would love to see all those frontend requests to be developed but yeah...

@VVD, @prog-amateur2 - I ended up installing Custom CSS app and using this CSS snippet:

Yes, as @chesio said, it's meant to be used with the custom CSS app.

If I can suggest broadening this a little wider - instead of just having a way to increase the font size, what about themes? Where the user could possibly control font size, font, contrast, dark/light, etc?

If not - the design work to increase font only isn't too much to work on.

@azmeuk : when wanting to increase the font, would this be globally (for all feeds?) or for one feed at a time? For example:

Situation 1: oh boy, I've been looking at my screen for hours. My 👁️ 👁️! 😭
Action: Increase font for all feeds

Situation 2: Oh boy, my eyes are tired, and this particular feed is making them even more tired.
Action: Increase font for this feed

or is it something else?

That would be situation 1. I cannot think of a situation where one particular feed would be more tiring than the others. I would increase the font of all the feeds, but not the menus.

A behavior I likes is the one the Firefox zen mode has.
