Thanks @eeholmes for suggesting this and putting together an example. (code)

This could also be used for tool discovery, if new tools are developed in the orgs that we are getting info about, I think (sorry I didn't understand this initially, Eli!)?

Adding some more comments from Eli:

I was thinking both keeping metadata current and finding new tools. If we can get folks to put things like "R Package" and "shiny app" in the description field, it is easy to find those things. In the type column, you will see that I have done added this but it is just looking in description field.

Once folks start to do that consistently, then you can see if there are new tools that have appeared that are not in the list, and you can reach out to the maintainers.
