Notes

The agenda comes from issues labelled with tsc-agenda across all of the repositories in the nodejs org. Please label any additional issues that should be on the agenda before the meeting starts.

Joining the meeting

Uberconference; participants should have the link & numbers, contact me if you don't.

Public participation

We stream our conference call straight to YouTube so anyone can listen to it live, it should start playing at https://www.youtube.com/c/nodejs+foundation/live when we turn it on. There's usually a short cat-herding time at the start of the meeting and then occasionally we have some quick private business to attend to before we can start recording & streaming. So be patient and it should show up.

Many of us will be on IRC in #node-dev on Freenode if you'd like to interact, we have a Q/A session scheduled at the end of the meeting if you'd like us to discuss anything in particular. @nodejs/collaborators in particular if there's anything you need from the TSC that's not worth putting on as a separate agenda item, this is a good place for it.

Things to be prepared with for this meeting:

  • Review Request to migrate Inclusivity Working Group responsibilities to the Node.js Foundation and TSC Request to migrate Inclusivity Working Group responsibilities to the Node.js Foundation and TSC #133 as we should probably pass a motion to request an investigation if we can
  • If there are any other folks that would like to stand for TSC Chair and/or TSC Director position(s), now is the time to do so, there is space and discussion in those two threads. We should probably move a formal motion next week (too late for this week given I'm only suggesting it now!)
  • Review the discussion at TSC Elections - One position or two? TSC Elections - One position or two? #128 as we should at least have a brief discussion about it in preparation for a formal motion, or motions, next week
  • There has been no movement in Define "Node.js core" - Mark II Define "Node.js core" - Mark II #113 but we need to circle back on it soon, from our recent discussions I suggest it's not going to be productive to rehash what we've discussed during a meeting when we could make some more progress in the issue first.
  • I put a proposal in Regular roll-up reporting for active working groups Regular roll-up reporting for active working groups #109 and it's got a bunch of 👍's but I haven't made any more progress so it's probably not worth covering in this meeting till I get myself into gear
  • Investigate moving nvm into the foundation Investigate moving nvm into the foundation #96 has some movement but I have not had time to digest it so I'd like someone else to lead a brief summary of state of play and what they think next steps might be, if any. Keep in mind that if we're a long way off any kind of decision then we should avoid wasting too much meeting time when the same thing could probably be achieved on GitHub.

@nodejs/ctc invited too of course, come and discuss if any of this interests you.

On the topic of nvm I'll be joining if @ljharb cannot make it to explain the state of things. I was asking for a vote here since the process of moving things into the foundation seemed to say this is how it should be approached.

I'll be able to join about half an hour late (if someone wouldn't mind shooting me the uberconference info).
