I want to take some time in the next TSC meeting to talk about ways we can better integrate with the PR team.
We have some good processes now around releases and security issues that seem to be working where we have the timelines coordinated pretty well but there are other things to TSC is doing that need PR coordination.
Basically, anything we think the tech press is going to write about we should coordinate with the PR team on. There's a good reason for this, the stories that come out of a coordinated effort are far more accurate, informative, and positive than stories that aren't. Projects that are backed by companies tend to have much better resources than community driven projects in this regard and one of the benefits that we have as a foundation are these kinds of resources.
It's always a challenge to line up a public and transparent process with behind the scenes preparation for the press but I'm confident that we can find a good balance if we talk about it a bit.
