Is there a better default value?

Should default_variables["CONFIGURATION_NAME"] a few lines further down be modified in a similar way?

This is originally refactor by @danbev , I fix ninja build issue. I tried the patch, looks ninja still good.

Not sure, from my memory this comes this refactor when refactoring openssl ? @danbev
