Evangelism: Review Roadmap Slides #209
Comments
Nice, giving it a first look! Is the quote We have the largest package ecosystem of any language, we can't break it. yours @mikeal :-)? It would probably be nice to tag it. |
On the build channels slide, I would mention that there are pre-compiled binaries for Mac, Linux, Windows and ARM. I would also add a slide about on how to keep up with all the activity around io.js:
Another slide for topics around contributing:
Another suggestion is a slide with all the existing Working Groups and their goal. This should probably be included in the beginning, more like an introduction on how io.js organizes itself around these groups. Lastly, some historical data would be nice (when io.js first emerged, current release dates, etc.). |
+1 to all of those @ruimarinho. All good ideas. I think a contributing one is a must have, and the last slide could be the How to Keep Up idea, as that provides a good closing for the discussion. |
There isn't room for attribution ;)
Ah, yes, we should stick a "call to action" at the end that helps people understand how to get involved. In fact, any slide deck we ever do should end with this :) |
@mikeal, in that case, I'd just remove the quotes and simply state it (a reference can be added to something like http://www.modulecounts.com/, which actually validates this data). At least this would be ideal in my perspective for the more skeptical audience ;) |
@mikeal please take a look this one https://github.com/rosskukulinski/iojs_talk |
@Aredo @rosskukulinski there's a lot in that deck that is outdated. Things have just been moving too fast! That's why the roadmap deck has less specifics in it, even over the course of making it some of things I said we would do ended up happening :) |
Slides are now up at http://roadmap.iojs.org |
Nice slides! 👍 |
starting in 2 minutes :) |
Ok, I made the edits that came up in the review session earlier. I've added the first draft of a "Get Involved!" slide, would love feedback on the format and content. http://roadmap.iojs.org/?full#11 |
@mikeal Looks really good. 👍 |
I'm not sure what "join a language" is supposed to mean? |
"join a language community" doesn't fit :( |
"Help Translate"? |
"Help Localize" |
"Language localization" |
The language communities don't just translate stuff, they're a lot more than that. Very hard to convey in such small space. |
but +1 for links as @AntouanK said... I'm sure you had already thought of that but hadn't gotten around to it |
they will all be links eventually, i'm just not 100% sure this format is right yet and I didn't want to do the work of linkifying everything until I was. |
Closing, initial review is done. |
The slide deck we have about the roadmap is nearly ready. It would be good to do a hangout review of the contents.
