I tried plugging the Surface into a Thunderbolt display and XRandR didn't even notice it. I'm going to try again with a MiniDisplayPort -> HDMI cable on another monitor.

Can you update this with the MiniDP-HDMI status? That'd be the setup I'd have and I'm curious how it would work out (if at all).

I have a miniDP -> HDMI adapter, and it worked for me with ubuntu on surface 3.

Works. I forgot Thunderbolt monitors can't be used with "mere" MiniDP hosts.

So this can be closed and checkmarked in the readme?

@wmertens I haven't been closing the issues here since they're used for discussions. However I have updated the hardware section of the checklist and the labels on this issue. Thanks.
