INFO: Could not init video

Describe the bug

On NixOS, numworks-epsilon-23.2.3, epsilon does not start.

To Reproduce

On NixOS:

1. execute: NIXPKGS_ALLOW_UNFREE=1 nix shell --impure -- nixpkgs#numworks-epsilon
2. execute: epsilon
3. observe response: INFO: Could not init video
4. None of the flags --help, --version, -vor-?` change the output
5. The flag -h gives no output at all, not even the error
