Longterm Support #595
Comments
I have no idea about the long term of the project. The only thing I can say for sure is that I won't invest time in it. The opportunity cost is too high for me. |
@oliviertassinari I think it would be pretty cool if it was added to the Material-UI core. Not sure if a carousel is part of the material spec, but is there any chance of that happening? |
@karrettgelley At 171k/week downloads, it's unlikely. The opportunity cost for Material-UI would be too high, as well. We would be better off going after problems we don't cover well yet: react-dropzone, react-table, react-slick. |
@oliviertassinari Do you know of any projects that are similar to this that do have long term support? |
No idea. I wouldn't worry. The logic runs well. If React introduce breaking changes, the community will step in. |
@oliviertassinari But will you merge the PRs or not even that. If not, you should give rigths to someone to handle that. |
We have #558, @jeanpoelie has proposed to help. It would be perfect to have a second member so we can get peer reviews and each maintainer challenge each other. |
I'd love this as well, especially with the busy days now! |
Small update--I've stepped in to help, but I can't give the project all the time it deserves. More help is certainly welcomed. |
I have been using this project for a carousel in my app for a while now. It's very easy to use and well documented, however I noticed that the owner has dropped from the project (@oliviertassinari you did a great job :). So then, what is the status of react-swipeable-views? Is it going to be supported in the future? Will it be able to support future versions of react? And is anyone funding this project?
I have not come across similar projects of the same quality, and I think it would be a shame not to maintain this repo.
