VSCode plugins generally have a description written in an "html enriched" flavor of markdown, allowing for the use of html syntax for creating links and images, which oni2 currently mostly does not support.
For example. one of the built-in plugins' description, JavaScript Language Basics, looks like this:
I assume this means it's only parsing basic markdown, without the more HTML styled elements.
I'm going to work a bit on fixing this, but I'm opening this issue just in case I don't.
Note: The general ux of the vscode plugins selector is downright horrible, and I guess this is a sort of first step in fixing it.
