Describe the issue you're reporting

This is coming from work on #30092.

The linked PR merely implements a workaround, but the proper fix would be to update to newer version of AWS SDK once the upstream issue (aws/aws-sdk-go#5116) is fixed and released. This issue is for tracking progress on the upstream work to ensure the dependency and relevant workaround is removed once this is available.
