Will there be a clean recommit of this repository anytime soon? It could've use github's release page for binaries. Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Others could speak to this better than I but I believe the plan is to:

  1. build external dependencies via Apothecary
  2. remove binaries from the repository and incorporate dependency building as a stage of the build process

Even after this occurs though, the binaries will have been in the repo history, so I think one would have to control the clone depth.

^what pizthewiz said. the problem is that the already committed binaries remain in the repo history, there's no clean way to get them out. this is a difficult problem, see here for some analysis.

Closing as duplicate of #1805

Oh, yea, didn't know it keeps .git folder. I thought it will just gives me files like downloading .zip from github interface... Cool then! For other noobs like me, this do the trick:

git clone https://github.com/openframeworks/openFrameworks --depth 1
