System information (version)
  • OpenVINO=> 2021.3
  • Operating System / Platform => N.A.
  • Compiler => N.A.
  • Problem classification => Packaging
Detailed description

Hi,

Having a conda recipe for the package would be very good. Combining recipes, especially those that require c++ compiles, is much easier via conda.

Steps to reproduce

N.A.

Issue submission checklist
  • I report the issue, it's not a question
  • I checked the problem with documentation, FAQ, open issues, Stack Overflow, etc and have not found solution
  • There is reproducer code and related data files: images, videos, models, etc.

Hi @sarthakpati

Is there a reason you need to use conda-forge? The development team is already considering a feature request that was previously submitted for conda.

If conda works for you, we can close this request and follow #7194

Regards,
Jesus

A few counter-points:

  • conda-forge is used to daisy-chain multiple dependencies together (especially with mixed language deployment and not necessarily only python).
  • conda-forge (at least from my experience) is far more widely used compared to Conan, which is primarily for C++ dependencies.
  • conda-forget has a robust CI/CD mechanism for its recipes (in partnership with Azure DevOps) to ensure the built libraries work for multiple platforms (Linux, OSX, Windows) and python versions.

@sarthakpati

Thanks you for the quick response, I have added your feedback to the internal ticket for the development team to consider conda-forge.

Jesus

To be specific, the advantages come into picture only when publishing a recipe in the conda-forge channel (Intel has its own channel, as well).

Please, use https://anaconda.org/conda-forge/openvino
It's available since 2022.3

Yes, because recipes in the conda-forge can be daisy chained together, not on other channels.
