Platform
Oppia Web

Describe the request
Redesign Oppia's blog page and its entry points, and conduct user research to ensure that the updated design works well. Specifically:

  • Update the styling of the blog page to be more modern / aesthetically pleasing and more consistent with the rest of the site
  • Figure out how to best surface the blog page in the context of the overall website.

Context for the request
As part of an update to the site's informational pages (#127), the "Blog" page was removed from the About tab (in the header), and now remains only on the footer. We're unsure if the footer placement is optimal and need user research to see if users require additional access points.

Currently, users use hashtags to find what they're interested in. And based on user feedback (from issue #127), users want blogs with clear categories and more content variety (publications, newsletters, etc.). In addition, the marketing team also has contents to share. Therefore, user research is needed to:

  • Identify target audiences and their needs.
  • Determine the content to include on the blog page (marketing team can help here).
The designer can conduct the user research, or the UXR team can use their expertise to help.

Some previous notes (from #70):

  • Earlier partial work by previous designers (not completed, but can be built on): see Figma link 1, Figma link 2
  • @stepmalt mentioned that all of the content in each of the boxes of the blog is crammed into a tight space. It could do with some spacing, even just a bit.

Redesigning the Blog pages was assigned as a future work from this PRD.
