You might be interested in http://archagon.net/blog/2018/03/24/data-laced-with-history/ which describes ORDTs as an easy way to handle CRDT-like system but without the downsides of CRDT while making it much easier to map to any data structure and being performant and generally suitable even for smartphones etc.
