It is currently not possible to enter characters that require the use of modifier keys such as Alt Gr. This has to be fixed.

Actually, Alt Gr+E will produce "€", but Alt Gr+~ will not produce the tilde character.

Turns out those keys are called "dead keys" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_key, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GtkDeadKeyTable).

How do Gtk applications handle them by default?
