Version 4.0.0 (not yet released)

  • Moves to Enterprise Linux 8 now that CentOS 7 is EOL. This makes binaries compatible with Linux distributions that have glibc >= 2.28. This means compatibility with Linux distributions released around 2020, such as:

    • Ubuntu 20.04
    • Debian 10

  • Upgrades tools and libraries:

    • zlib 1.2.12 -> 1.3.1
    • libcurl 7.81.0 -> 8.7.1
    • SQLite 3.37.2 -> 3.45.3
    • OpenSSL 1.1.1m -> 3.3.0

    Note: we now use CMake, Git and ccache from Enterprise Linux 8's repositories. We no longer install our own versions.

  • Fixes C++ compiler problems. Upgrades libstdc++ to 9.3.0 in order to match the GCC version. Fix contributed by @asl, closes #47.

  • Fixes static linking to libgomp when -static-libgcc is used. Fix contributed by @asl, closes #50.

  • Upgrades tools and libraries:

    • CMake 3.19.3 -> 3.22.2
    • OpenSSL 1.1.1i -> 1.1.1m
    • libcurl 7.74.0 -> 7.81.0

  • Fixes Git HTTPS support.

  • Fixed libcheck and setuser. They didn't start properly since 3.0.0 because of wrong shebang lines.

  • Fixed installing pip. Pip was not properly installed in 3.0.0.

  • Moved to CentOS 7. This makes binaries compatible with Linux distributions that have glibc >= 2.17. This means compatibility with Linux distributions released around 2013-2015, such as:

  • Upgraded OpenSSL to 1.1.1i.

  • Made the image smaller by removing redundant versions of OpenSSL and curl.
  • Updated autoconf to 2.70.
  • Updated automake to 1.16.3.

  • Fixes problems with building the Docker image due to so many web servers these days switching to HTTPS with strict cryptographic settings that aren't supported by CentOS 5's default OpenSSL version.
  • Python is now built with OpenSSL and HTTPS support.

  • OpenSSL has been upgraded to 1.0.2h.
  • ccache has been upgraded to 3.2.6.
