I'm thinking of making this a dropdown, like https://tailwindcss.com/docs/

Theme toggling is only supported when JS is enabled, and having a dropdown with clear wording about each mode seems reasonable to me.

python/python-docs-theme#44 implemented a drop down in a Sphinx theme.
