When using Material dark themes ("Deep Purple Dark" and "Indido Dark"), and you click to expand a PanelMenu item and then click the same item again to collapse it, the white blink stands still and therefore both text and background are of same color.

You can reproduce the behaviour in the showcase page:
https://primefaces.org/primevue/showcase/#/panelmenu
by selecting a material dark theme.
