For example there is a major difference between 20h overnight train trip in a sleeping wagon and 20h train trip with a simple seat and 20h train trip without even a seat.

Main problem is deciding how detailed this information should be - see for example variation of seats on plane.

I personally think this is too detailed for a format that intends to cover all (or at least doesn't restrict to one) means of transport. There are just too many attributes of a seat that would have to be supported.

Why not write a compatible "extension" of FPTF and host it somewhere? (We can use the public-transport org if you want.)
