I don't know why it keeps looking for an image in the static directory:

since it has a path

This is a feature for setting the width and height attribute for images.

Oh, I see what you mean, this theme doesn't handle page resources correctly, I'll handle it ASAP.
For fixing temporarily, you can put the image to the static folder.

Now this theme can handle the image page resources properly.

The example site also provides an example showing how to use it.

There are three options to handle images so far:

• External image, such as https://domain/image.png
• Load from page resources.
• Load from static folder.

This theme will try to load from page resources first, if fails, it loads the image from the static folder.
