so we're doing all this work on the library and filtering right now.

I'm sure we've had discussions about this before, but... what about tags and/or "favorites"?

for example, I've got a few specific replays that I usually use for testing out behavior of our app, but those are getting pushed further down the library list as I make others.  (and I know that people like Josh have hundreds of replays in their library).

it would be helpful to have some way to mark a few of these with some tag/heart/start/whatever so that I can at least narrow the list down to "the ones I use frequently"

Oh... do other people not have several hundred replays in their library? 😅  Maybe that's why I always feel like its slow to load...

I'm 100% on board since i literally do the same thing
But also, not sure that having a go-to replay that's opened frequently is a common pattern for external users

A recently-viewed list of replays might be a good proxy that also happens to be applicable for users. But the downside is that it's not a perfect substitute for the favorite use case, since it depends on recency

I'd definitely look at how Google Drive does it. They also have to deal with the issue with "a lot of things are stored here and people think they're all important, but actually some are more important than other".

if I could tell my library to sort by most recently opened (maybe with a callout for fresh recordings which have not been opened yet) I would be pretty stoked
