Most important: more testing needs to be done on this driver, particularly
the quality of various sampling methods under various conditions
for both the quality of the device's ouutput and the security of
relying this device for key generation!
Features and fixes to add (or think about adding), in no particular order:
[By all means, if you have or desire to work on these, please do;
I don't have all the time I would like to nowadays.]
Rewrite the driver to that the API installs itself, and then the
driver (possibly a second file?) calls the API.
Write a separate sampling device that sends writes to the API.
Write more demo utilities and interface routines. (A TSR which
samples /dev/random and over time generates a file of random
noise while in the background would be nice.)
Write user-friendly (Windows/DOS) configuration utilities.
Write OS/2, Windows 3.x/95/NT ports (with a possible clock drift
implementation based on spawned threads?). Make driver aware
of systems such as DesqView, MultiDOS, VMiX, etc.
Add support for Windows VRANDOM.386 VxD (in the works...). Add
interface to other Windows VxDs, such as mouse (VMD), etc.
Experiment with Win and other multitasking idles and time slice
release sampling. Look for other (worthwhile) sampling
methods, IRQs, etc.
Find a workaround so Pentium RDTSC can be sampled in Windows or
OS/2 (without QEMM or 386MAX), possibly writing a separate
Windows VxD.
Add more i486 or i586-specific optimizations.
Add support for some hardware RNG cards (?).
Add a different hash algorithm as an alternative to SHA (?)
[HAVAL or RIPEMD-160 would be slower and be larger, though.]
