Why does it fail when run as a script but work when run manually?

Check to see how the DDC communication if failing by using options --ddc and --stats errors, and by looking in the system log.

If you're getting DDC status errors, try forcing ddcutil to increase its idle time between operations. Use --disable-dynamic-sleep to disable the dynamic sleep algorithm and instead use --set-multiplier to set an explicit sleep-multiplier of 1.0 and adjust up and down from there.

When I run the ddcutil --verbose -b 11 setvcp 10 + 10, it fails too.
