Localization (into Japanese, or other languages)

Hi, we are going to translate your training course into Japanese. I believe many company in Japan are trying ROS-I package and Japanese document can ease their language barrier.

Now we forked the repository and translated them partially (Demo1, Demo2 sections). The result is rendered here.

It is just started and we need to continue translation. I hope we can finish it in a few month.

My question is,

• Do you (ROS-I core member) have any policy or thought of localization?
• ReadTheDocs have some support for translation (here), should I use this?
  • In that case, could you merge and host the translated version?

I was planning to use Weblate (free for open source) in combination with sphinx and gettext.

Weblate proudly supports libre projects

If you feel like being supported by Weblate will help you, [set up your libre project](https://hosted.weblate.org/hosting/) and get the Libre plan gratis. It has the same limits as the Advanced plan, but only for public projects.

Here are the requirements to get free support for a libre project :

• Translated content has to be released under a license approved by OSI or recognized as libre by FSF.
• All the source code has to be publicly available in a supported version control system.
• Translations have to be in the same repository as the source code, or under the same project/organization as the source code repository.
• Using Weblate has been approved by the upstream project.
• Mention you use Weblate for translations in the README. It’ll attract new translators and also help Weblate to be free for more projects.
• The project has had active development for at least three months.

So to be able to start this initiative, I would need approval from the ROS-Industrial community on the above points. @ipa-hsd @ipa-nhg @ipa-cmh @dhled
