I provided my own set of answers to this question with the tutorial.helpers package, now on CRAN. Feedback is welcome! |

Every instructor needs a method for ensuring that her students have completed their assigned tutorials. What are current best practices?
Based on learnhash by @rundel, some people --- examples include qsslearnr by @mattblackwell and tutorial.helpers by me --- allow students to create pdf/html/rds files of their answers.
It seems possible to use some CSS magic to make tutorials printable. Thanks to @siebrenf and @gadenbuie.
The problem with 1) is that it requires a lot of difficult to test/maintain infrastructure. I have no experience with 2) but it seems very hacky to just paste in some CSS code. Questions:
Are there any other approaches that people are aware of?
Does RStudio have any plans about this? @gadenbuie mentioned the possibility of incorporating 2) into the learnr package itself, but that was more than two years ago and the PR for doing so was not accepted.
Thanks!
