great library, but I had to read your code very carefully to make sure I wasn't about to mix up microseconds and milliseconds

I probably should have used the same parameter names as datetime.datetime (everything spelled out) which would have avoided the "micro-" or "milli-" confusion. Thinking about making that switch.
