tried both versions, appear to install correctly but absolutely no functionality present

Wasn't an issue, my problem. I'm a LO noob and didn't read your instructions about enabling the add-on properly, jumped to the conclusion that the 'enabling' refered to enabling/disabling the add-on in the extension manager. Apologies!
