Show unsaved changes marker based on whether there actually are any differences. I don't want to keep around a full copy of the data and diff it. We could try hashing the file and comparing the hashes. Not sure how fast that would be. Look into meow hash? We could also use this to verify whether external changes actually changed file contents.
