Indications | Respiratory tract, ENT, skin & soft tissue, bone & joints, genital organs, abdominal infections, UTI; septicemia, endocarditis, meningitis. |
Dosing | Adults and children > 50 kg: 1-2 g IV/IM Q8-12H; serious infection: 2 g IV Q6-8H (maximum 12 g/day); gonorrhea: 0.5-1 g IM as single dose. Children < 50 kg: 50-100 mg/kg/day IV/IM (divided Q6-12H); 150-200 mg/kg/day for severe infections. Preterm infants: 50 mg/kg/day (divided Q12H).
