Contraindications | Diabetes, alcohol poisoning. Patients who are unable to appreciate & report visual side effects or changes in vision (e.g. young children, unconscious patients); optic neuritis. |
Adverse Effects | Decreased visual acuity, leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hypersensitivity, anaphylactoid reactions, headache, mental confusion, disorientation & possible hallucinations, dizziness, hypoaesthesia, paraesthesia, peripheral neuropathy, pulmonary infiltrates with or without eosinophilia, GI disturbances, dermatitis, rash, pruritus, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, gout, hyperuricemia, joint pain, fever, malaise. |
