Indications | Herpes simplex virus infection of the skin. |
Dosing | Apply topically every 4 hours, 5 times per day for 5 days in sufficient quantities to adequately cover the lesion. Maybe prolong to 10 days if necessary. |

Contraindications | Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or any other component of the product. Hypersensitivity to any component of this product with the topical ointment. |
Adverse Effects | Common: Contact dermatitis (topical cream, 2%), Diarrhea (2.4-3.2%), Nausea (2.7-4.8%), Vomiting, Headache (2.2%), Follicular conjunctivitis (Ophthalmic ointment, 2-10%), Pain in eye, or stinging (Ophthalmic ointment, 2-10%), Malaise (11.5%) Serious: Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, Hemolytic Uremia Syndrome, Superficial punctate keratitis (Ophthalmic ointment, 2-10%), Renal failure |
