DisasterMap

DisasterMap is a modern, responsive web interface, providing data about volcanos in Iceland. This app was built during the Winterterm 2018/2019 for the studyproject in 'Geoinformation in Society'.

Goals:

  • Mitigation of natural disasters in Iceland trough information and education
  • Representation and geographic visualization of spatio-temporal phenomena
  • Use and produce #OPENDATA
  • Increase transparency
  • Facilitate collaboration

Features:

  • Visualization of data (6 datasets of iceland provided)
  • Educational information and behavioural advice regarding natural disasters (especially volcanic eruptions)
  • Up-to-date information of recent volcanic events provided via curated twitter feed
