I've got a multimonitor setup and I can't seem to get Shutter to screenshot the one monitor I want (when I tick 'Limit to current monitor' I only get screenshots of the monitor I don't want to take screenshots of). This is inconvenient when I want to take screenshots of games, since it often means I have to crop images afterwards.

As an alternative, I was wondering if I could get Shutter to take a screenshot of part of my screen at the press of a button as a workaround. Is that possible, and if so, how can I do it?

Shutter can be run as

shutter --select=[X,Y,WIDTH,HEIGHT]

where X,Y are the initial selection coordinates (top left corner of the selection) and WIDTH,HEIGHT are the dimensions of the selection. Unfortunately, I don't use a second screen and cannot test how well this works in a multimonitor setup.
