In the README, regarding the "-rot" variant:

Per sile-typesetter/sile#1035, SILE does not yet support any version of the LaTeX command \reflectbox. (...)

As of 0.14.9, SILE has the scalebox package, and a LaTeX \reflectbox would just be a special case = \scalebox[xratio=-1,yratio=1]

Perhaps this could be used here, as a better fallback option (compared to a rotation)?
