The purpose of postcss-position is to replicate the native shorthand syntaxes of other CSS properties, like margin. Not entirely sure why you'd want to have another random property (z-index) declaration mixed into that shorthand syntax, but it's a use-case that falls outside of Rucksack's scope.
So closing this for now, if there are other features that I'm missing in postcss-position-alt happy to re-look at it.
postcss-position-alt plugin has better features over postcss-position.
