Getting some sort of Invalid API key at verifyContract error, I've double checked that all my etherscan API key is correct.

Looks like it's a problem on etherscan's end. i also face the same issue and it seems like a lot of us are facing this issue within the same timeframe

I figured as this was a test account sharing the private key wasn't a big deal.

Here is my hardhat-config.js

I ran into the exact same problem

It seems to be an API issue on Etherscans end. They have a banner on their page regarding the issue: "We are investigating an issue affecting the API services and the team is working to resolve this."

Yeah I saw that after I posted this, however I don't see that banner anymore and I'm still getting that error, have you fixed yours?

I'm having the same issue where I can't verify my code as part of Lesson 7 - Hardhat Fund me. By making direct calls to the Etherscan API I can see the API key works on mainnet but not on Rinkeby.
On this page it says: An API key generated on Etherscan can be used across all mainnet and testnet explorers.. So the key should work on any net.

The following API GETs are meant to retrieve the current price of Eth provided by etherscan:

Testing on mainnet: https://api.etherscan.io/api?module=stats&action=ethprice&apikey=ETHERSCAN_API_KEY -> Status: 200 OK

So it seems Rinkeby is not working for some reason. In fact none of the testnets seem to work.
Note: Don't forget to replace ETHERSCAN_API_KEY in the request url with your API key.

Also, currently the banner on rinkeby.etherscan.io says to me: This testnet will be deprecated soon. Migrate your contracts and deploy new ones on Goerli or Sepolia. Probably in preparation for the merge, which means they might not have the motivation to fix it xD.

Yeah I saw that message as well, so does that mean we just can't proceed with the course until they do something lol.

I'm quite the noob myself, but I don't think validating in Rinkeby through API is so important for the course. We can skip through it. In such a fast paced field like smart contract development it would be hard for stuff not to change. Patrick's course is actually incredibly consistent for the level of change the field sees. Anyway it is good practice for us as these things will always happen.

You should check your etherscan API key is correct, and this is added in the hardhat.config file

I've changed the variables, I've pushed the updated code, I think it is an issue with etherscan based off other people saying they are facing the same issues

Issue seems to be resolved now, seems like it was an issue on etherscan's end, my hardhat.config is available to view on my repositories if anyone wants to compare.

Hi, i have come to this part of the tutorial and it's not working too, for what i've saw it's a problem with the etherscan endpoint, when you try to acess the endpoint in your browser it gets a error for the sepolia network, the best is to wait to be fix it

这三个值一定要看正确，
Invalid API Key at verifyContract 绝对是ETHERSCAN_API_KEY 在你的.env环境里写错了，你可以console.log（ETHERSCAN_API_KEY ）打印一下。

I wiped it. I looked at this problem all afternoon and finally solved it,
in your code you can print your api_key。
console.log("apiKey..."+ process.env.ETHERSCAN_API_KEY;);
this key is from https://etherscan.io/myapikey .
