We're in the open source realm, we can't commit to ETAs because we have day jobs, university studies and so on.
If you want to try out a preview release of v3, clone this branch, compile and run. All credits to @lukaarma for putting in amazing effort towards v3.

git clone https://github.com/snobu/destreamer -b aria2c_forRealNow

@CyberMew not yet because I'm stupid :P
I've added a disclaimer to the branch and I'll let you now when it's ready for other OS other than windows

Edit: it should work now

Remember to install Aria2 and add it to Path to be able to use this branch.

Woah, this branch decreased the waiting time from 1 hour to like a few minutes, definitely stage 3 torpedo. Btw I was wondering maybe if you could make destreamer print out the video and audio url before making aria2c download them.

I like Imperial Infiltrator... because it basically infiltrates Imperial servers and extracts protected intel. Looking forward to newer model droid with higher transfer speeds (R2-D3)

@lukaarma Great job! Download went from couple hundred kB/s to full speed that my IPS provides (6MB/s).

Please @Samuell08 could you help me and tell me the steps to take to get this result?

I am a new novice user. Could you please help me download this new version?

  • Create a new folder and clone the repo again into that folder using this command:
    git clone https://github.com/snobu/destreamer -b aria2c_forRealNow
  • follow the normal destreamer installation guide
  • install aria2 following this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS-VmSmtaWg
  • if you are on windows you can launch destreamer by creating a .bat file with the following command:
    cmd /k destreamer --help
  • you can also create a list of microsoft stream videos URL's, save it in the same folder as your destreamer repo and download all of it by creating a .bat file with the following command:
    cmd /k destreamer -f myList.txt

Thank you very much @SpaceGauchoDev , I am grateful to you.
However I had two problems:

  1. First of all, every two lessons downloaded, an error concerning the aria2 server appeared on the screen; "[ERROR] stdout maxBuffer length exceeded [FATAL ERROR] The aria2c rpc server crashed with the previous message";
  2. Although my speedtest says that my download speed is about 13 Mb/s, why the script can't take all the bandwidth but only 3-4 Mb/s?

  1. Were the videos very long? I think there is a limit to file transfer with aria2, i found i could download several 50 min lectures but only a couple 3 hours lectures. Closing the window and starting it up again helped, you are gonna have to delete partial downloads from the videos folder when it fails.

  2. Sorry, i have no idea how any of this works haha. Its way better than 500kbps though!

We should stop derailing this issue thread though.

ciao, c'è un modo per cambiare la qualità del video? il collegamento supporta già 720 e 360 video c'è un modo per scegliere? TIA!

Hi, this is the command with the description:

-q, --selectQuality Select the quality with a number from 1 (worst) to 10 (best), 0 prompts the user for each video [number] [default: 10]

Just change the value from 1 to 10 according to the desired quality, but I recommend you leave 720/1080.
