I'm José Díaz Rohena, a software developer and musician living in Berlin, Germany.
I like making tools for musicians, which is why spend my day working on a DAW that music makers of all experience levels rely on. I like working on large, complex projects overall. But I also like working on smaller things like plugins—projects where one person can get the thing done.
That's why I've been working on Valentine, compressor VST that I started as my Master's Thesis at NYU. After some time off from that, I decided to open source it. I want it to be a useful tool for creators. I also (and this is why it's open source) want the project to be a platform for helping people learn about plugin development.
I'm writing about it here .
I've decided to take sponsorships mainly to finance things like my Apple Developer account which is necessary to sign plugins for MacOs. Eventually, I also want to be able to properly sign/publish on Windows, which is another investment. I would also be able to spend more time on Valentine and further projects (none planned yet) depending on the level of support.
