Origins
Codebender.cc was founded in 2013 by Vasilis Georgitzikis and Panos Sakkos, both passionate makers and Arduino enthusiasts from Greece. In November 2022, Codebender.cc was acquired by Brett and Erik Hagman of Rogue Robotics.
The Rogue duo are passionate about electronics and education. Brett has actively participated in the development of the Arduino and Wiring platforms. In 2017, he was employed by Arduino as a hardware and software technical lead.
Reboot
Codebender.cc is returning to its roots where it will provide tools for everyone to work with their hardware.
We are working hard on improving the Codebender platform. Not only are we improving the editor, builder and uploader, but we are building other tools to help manage data and help educators manage classes.
This reboot is bringing together a blockbuster team of people within the community as advisors as well as developers.
Why We Need Your Help
We want to make Codebender free again because we believe that everyone should have access to tools no matter where or who you are. Everyone has great ideas, and we want everyone to be able to express those ideas with Codebender and their hardware.
While this sounds simple and easy, it still costs a significant amount of money to keep the systems running. By sponsoring Codebender, you can help us in our mission to keep these tools available to everyone, and help people bring their ideas to life.
Our Advisors
Codebender has plenty of key figures to keep the project heading in the right direction.
- Brett Hagman (GH @bhagman)
- Erik Hagman
- Rick Anderson (GH: @ricklon)
- Kathy Giori
- Ivan Kravets (GH: @ivankravets)
- Vasilis Georgitzikis (GH: @tzikis)
During this initial phase, we are looking for passionate people to help us reach our goal of making Codebender free for everyone. We're working hard on the reboot and those that sponsor our mission will get exclusive updates on our progress (and may even get sneak peaks and voting privileges for upcoming improvements).
