It's common knowledge that the modern world is driven by technology. If you want wanted to completely eliminate computers from your life, you'd effectively need to give up being a part of society entirely. As such, it's critically important that we be able to trust the devices that power our lives.
Computers alone are useless. They only become helpful when they are given instructions on what to do, and exactly how to do it. These instructions come in the form of software. By programming in the exact set of steps a computer should take, a software developer can make a computer do nearly anything.
There are two main models for software development: proprietary and open source. In the proprietary model, users are asked to trust the intentions of the software developer, and are not permitted to read the instructions given to their device. In the open source model, the source code that powers a program is made available the user, and they are free to run it, study it, and modify it. Open source software is considered "trustless" in the sense that the user doesn't need to trust the intentions of the developer, given that anyone with technical experience can verify the developer's ethics and privacy claims by reviewing the code.
V0LT creates software, physical products, and other media that places privacy, freedom, and transparency above all else. Ethics is at the core of everything I make, and V0LT is the embodiment of that.
