What is Elide?
Elide is a cloud-first polyglot runtime for developing fast web applications. It aims to reduce the barriers between languages and improve performance of existing code, without forcing developers to abandon their favorite APIs and libraries.
How can I use it?
Elide can be used as a runtime (as a binary, like node
or python
), or as a framework (distributed via Maven Central, NPM, and others).
Why is it cool?
Elide lets you write code in backend languages like JVM, Python, Ruby, and so on, and let them interoperate seamlessly between each other, or with JavaScript. It can also do it very fast, since it is powered by the incredible language engines that ship with GraalVM.
Elide is what happens when you move Node's internals to JVM and Netty. It can run a lot of existing code already, including off-the-shelf React applications like MUI-based apps.
