Hi, I'm Ted.

I'm a mechanical engineer-turned management consultant-turned analytics engineer and startup executive and advisor.

I am currently a "Fractional" Chief Data Officer at a handful of early-stage software and data companies; I also contract for finite-term projects in AI, analytics, data engineering, and related domains.

I have a long career in Data, but have only turned to software development recently, mostly to enable data science and advanced analytics. My first open-source commits were to dbt.

I've fallen in love with software development, and contribute to open source in my free time. My "day job" is contract work, so sponsorships on GitHub let me focus on developing FOSS instead.

In 2021, I created sqlfmt, the autoformatter for dbt SQL that has been downloaded millions of times.

In 2023, I created harlequin, the SQL IDE for your Terminal.
