When the Iterm profile has a material-theme color scheme, the vim editor is faded out and really hard to read anything. Is there an option to use the native color scheme of the terminal for the editor.

If you open iTerm -> Preferences -> Profiles -> Color Presets and set it to Solarized Dark, this should resolve this issue. Note, this should be done al all applicable profiles.
